Biggest greenhouse integrated PV plant
Solar current for Gärtnersiedlung Rain am Lech
Since the end of 2011, into the greenhouse roofs integrated photovoltaic modules have been generating eco-friendly electric current in the Gärtnersiedlung Rain am Lech, Bavaria. As an EPC contractor, abakus solar is being involved in the realisation of Germany´s currently most powerful solar plant: There is a plan to expand the capacity to 1.4 MWp altogether.
abakus solar has already installed 708 kWp. This power is spread above the working spaces of the four companies Hartmann Gartenbau GmbH & Co. KG, Hartmann GbR, Dechant Gartenbau GmbH & Co. KG und R. Bosch KG. The practical refitting was carried out by the Danish company Viemose-Driboga A/S. It exchanged a part of the 4 mm float glass panes for photovoltaic glass-foil-modules with 4 mm tempered safety glass. For this purpose, the Scandinavian greenhouse manufacturer developed new bars and profiles customised to the greenhouses and modules.
At this stage, the plant produces 720,000 kWh of electric current per year. This comes up to the demand of approximately 260 households consisting of two persons. Besides, about 405 tons of CO2 emissions can annually be saved. The current is fed into the public grid.
